中華隊第6局由林智勝的陽春砲將比數追成5比7，但無人出局且攻占滿壘，沒想到，陳俊秀遭到三振，而蔣智賢短打成投手正面滾地球，而遭到雙殺作收。
在第6局錯失逆轉良機後，加拿大在第8局上以2轟拉大差距，但中華隊於8局下又有一波攻勢，高國輝代打敲出二壘安打，陳俊秀則敲出安打追回1分，賽前練習受傷的陽岱鋼則在全場歡呼聲中出場代打並敲出安打，王柏融再補上二壘安打，中華隊追成8比9，讓全場球迷沸騰。
但關鍵的一球是，張志豪在8局下半場打出外野深遠飛球，但加拿大中外野手在第一時間並沒有接進手套，還撞上了全壘打牆，但另一名外野手在球落地之前完成接殺，中華隊9局下追分無力，1分飲恨。
中華隊12日吞下這次12強賽的第2場敗戰（1勝）， 13日休兵，14日出戰古巴、15日對波多黎各。
